Glucosamine - very popular worldwide
Glucosamine has been one of the most popular supplements for decades. It is a substance that is naturally produced in the human body and is used for the construction and maintenance of cartilage in the joints. Millions of people worldwide choose to supplement this substance through a dietary supplement.
Many different dosages and forms are available. Glucosamine.com offers a dietary supplement containing 1500 mg of glucosamine sulfate per day, the dosage and form used in most scientific studies. The supplement also contains vitamin C, which contributes to normal collagen formation and thus the normal functioning of cartilage.
About two in three people say they are (very) satisfied with the use of this supplement. The effect can usually be noticed within one to two months, but shorter periods such as a week and longer periods of up to six months are also possible. That differs per individual. The effect is maintained as long as the intake of glucosamine is continued. Long-term use is no problem: glucosamine is a safe dietary supplement, even with long-term use.
Correct dosing guaranteed
Dietary supplements with glucosamine are often dosed too low. It often happens that a supplement contains only 500 mg, 600 mg, 1000 mg or 1200 mg glucosamine per daily dose, while the correct dose is 1500 mg. This is the dosage as it has been used in almost every successful scientific study.
As a result of this underdose, the supplements do not always produce the desired effect. This leads to disappointment among users.
One of the reasons for underdosing is ignorance. Unfortunately, in the supplement industry, parties are active that have little affinity with the properties of a product such as glucosamine.
Glucosamine.com is a specialist in glucosamine. With us you are guaranteed to get the correct dosage.
Other causes include cost savings, the use of too few capsules or the legal restrictions that apply in some countries.
Glucosamine can be used safely for a long time. Unlike many pain-relieving drugs, it has no serious side effects. Even after years of use there are no problems.
Scientific research on long-term use (3 years) of glucosamine has not revealed serious side effects. There is no indication that continued use would not be safe. Glucosamine has been available as a dietary supplement for over 30 years. During that period no serious side effects were ever reported.
Combinations with glucosamine
Glucosamine is a powerful dietary supplement and already sufficiently effective for many people. Yet it is possible to further enhance the effect by combining glucosamine with Asu Forte, for example. ASU Forte is a vegetarian alternative to glucosamine. There are people who benefit more from glucosamine, but it also occurs the other way around. It is also possible to use both supplements together.

- Glucosamine can affect the action of certain blood thinners (vitamin K antagonists). Do not use this supplement in conjunction with this type of medication without consulting a doctor. Other blood thinners such as aspirin are no problem.
- Do not use during a course of antibiotics.
- Do not use in glaucoma (increased eye pressure).
- Do not use in case of severe shellfish allergy.
- Do not use during pregnancy and lactation.
- Diabetics should monitor blood sugar during the first weeks of use.
When you choose glucosamine from Glucosamine.com, you choose quality:
Correct, high dosage. Scientific studies have shown 1500 mg of glucosamine sulphate per day to be the optimal dose. Glucosamine sulphate is unfortunately regularly dosed too low. There are many products on the market with dosages between 500 and 1200 mg. We supply the correct, high dosage of 1500 mg.
Correct form. There are different forms of glucosamine. The most commonly used are glucosamine sulfate and glucosamine hydrochloride. Successful scientific research has mainly been done with the sulphate form. We only use that form, also of high quality, with a purity of more than 99%.
Safe product. Our glucosamine is produced according to the strict GMP and HACCP requirements. This means that the manufacturer follows procedures that guarantee food safety and hygiene.
Independently tested. The end product is randomly checked for heavy metals and biological contaminants by the independent laboratory NutriControl.
Capsules. Our glucosamine is in capsules instead of tablets. Capsules are absorbed faster and are less likely to cause stomach hypersensitivity. Another advantage of capsules is that they are easier to swallow than non-slip hard-edged tablets. Those who do not want to or cannot take the capsules can simply open them and only use the glucosamine powder.
Specialist since 2000. Glucosamine.com is a specialist in nutritional supplements for healthy joints. The company was founded in 2000 by exercise physiologist and exercise scientist Kris Kuiper and has since developed various special supplements. There is a lot of knowledge and experience about the effect and safety of these supplements.
The recommended use is 2 capsules of glucosamine per day. The capsules may be taken at the same time or divided over the day. It is preferable to take the capsules with meal(s) or with plenty of water.
Do not exceed the maximum recommended dose. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied diet. Difficulty with swallowing capsules? You can pull the two halves apart and use only the powder. You can mix it with, for example, water, fruit juice or yogurt.

With certain conditions and when using certain medications, some instructions should be observed:
Blood thinners Glucosamine can affect the way certain blood thinners (vitamin K antagonists) work. Do not use this supplement in conjunction with this type of medication without consulting a doctor. Other blood thinners such as aspirin are no problem.
Antibiotics Glucosamine can affect the action of some antibiotics; it can enhance or reduce the effect. We recommend not to use glucosamine during a course of antibiotics.
Glaucoma (increased eye pressure) In July 2013 the results of a small study on the effect of glucosamine on patients suffering from glaucoma (increased eye pressure) were published. The subjects were 6 men and 11 women with a average age of 76 years (62 to 90 years). The study found that the supplement increased eye pressure in most of these patients. Discontinuation of use decreased eyeball pressure again. The average measured difference in eye pressure was 3 mm Hg.
Since this is a small exploratory study, its design does not meet a number of important guidelines for scientific research. The scientists therefore indicate that the study should be confirmed with a larger, better-designed study. However, we assume that the effect found is real and therefore come up with the following advice:
If you suffer from glaucoma, we recommend that you do not use glucosamine. A second possibility is to have the eye pressure measured several times when the use has started. Important: This indication only applies to people who already have glaucoma. There is no evidence that glucosamine can lead to an increase in eye pressure in healthy people. If you are looking for an alternative, try ASU Forte. Asu Forte has no effect on glaucoma.
Diabetes type 2 (old age diabetes) There are indications that in people with type 2 diabetes (old age diabetes) the blood sugar level can be affected when using glucosamine. We therefore recommend that diabetes patients regularly check their blood sugar level when starting use. Another option is to choose an alternative supplement such as ASU Forte which has no influence on insulin sensitivity.
Shellfish allergy Glucosamine is extracted from the shell of shellfish. Some people are allergic to shellfish meat. Although the meat is removed before using the shell, an allergic reaction can never be ruled out. Especially when there is a serious shellfish allergy, it is important to take this into account. Asu Forte is a good vegetarian alternative.
Potassium restricted diet Glucosamine sulphate is stabilized with potassium chloride. A daily dose (2 capsules) contains 268 mg of potassium. That is slightly more than the amount of potassium in half a banana or 4 slices of wholemeal bread. However, in people with severely impaired kidney function, increased potassium intake can have adverse effects. Potassium intake should also be limited when using potassium-sparing medicines.
Gastrointestinal hypersensitivity Glucosamine is a substance that occurs naturally in the body. Serious side effects have therefore never been observed. The minor side effects that occur in some people are usually hypersensitivity of the gastrointestinal tract. In those cases, it usually involves nausea and excess stomach acid. Less often constipation or diarrhea occur. In general, nausea and excess stomach acid can be prevented by taking the supplement during or after meal(s).
Pregnancy / breastfeeding Do not use glucosamine if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding. The supplement has a very favorable safety profile, but no studies have been conducted that can rule out a possible adverse effect on the (unborn) child.
Use at a young age Use by children and teenagers (up to 18 years) is not recommended. The body must be 'fully grown' when the use is started. By 'fully grown' is meant both bone development and hormonal development. The reason we recommend this is that no research has been done on safety in children and teenagers.
