Tamarind Paste - L
Tamarind paste is made from a sour, sticky fruit that grows in a pod on a tamarind tree. It is an indispensable part of Asian and African cuisine. Tamarind is a good alternative to vinegar and gives Indian dishes the typical sweet and sour taste. While some cuisines use tamarind paste to make desserts and even sweets, most commonly in Thai cuisine it is used in savory dishes. Classic pad thai sauce is made with tamarind, as are a number of Thai curries and seafood dishes. It is also a common ingredient in Mexican cuisine, including Vietnamese, Latin, and Caribbean cuisines. It is also a key ingredient in Worcestershire sauce.
For Ayurvedic cuisine and a balanced diet.
In combination with sugar (or sugar alternatives), tamarind gives your dishes a nice but subtle sweet and sour taste. Taste your dish for the right sweet-and-acid balance: add some more tamarind paste or some more sweetener until the desired taste is achieved.
