Cinnamon rice with dates



Cinnamon rice with dates



  • 200 grs uncooked basmati rice 

  • 4 (medjool)dates

  • ¼ tsp. cinnamon powder 

  • ¼ tsp. black pepper 

  • ¼ tsp. cardamom powder

  • 1 tbsp. ghee

  • pinch of salt 

  • 800 ml water




Heat ghee in saucepan on low and add uncooked basmati rice. Let simmer for 5 minutes while stirring. Chop dates and add to the rice. Add spices and cook for another two minutes. Keep on stirring. Add water and bring to a boil. Let simmer on low and cook (about 20 minutes) until rice is tender.

If you like you can reduce some extra dates with a bit of water and a pinch of cinnamon and spread over the rice as a garnish.
